A bit surprised nobody has mentioned it yet.
Headlines, Labour government, Conservative collapse, SNP collapse, Reform major gain.
My opinion: Labour gains and Conservative collapse both largely voters wanting "change". Largely from COVID, Putain's war and the consequences of both of those and spending what we don't have. Neither party could / can do much about any of it and what they can do they don't want to because the same voters won't like it.
It's a big majority but actually an unstable one, as the Conservative majority in 2019 turned out to be.
Effects on policy:
Nothing in broad intent. A new set of people trying to do much the same things may do better or worse but probably not much different. Slightly different risk / return appetite.
SNP collapse due to "anti Tories" in Scotland rating saying something about the Conservatives above saying something about England and the SNP's own wellpublicised troubles. Actual debate about independence hasn't changed an iota, as a senior SNP figure noted.
For comparison Plaid Cymru and SF both very slightly increased their votes.
We shall see what Reform does, worth noting that UK IP polled very low. Might siphon off the assorted xenophobes from the Conservatives, for good or ill.
