The Politics Of War • Judge Juan Merchan - Playing his part in lawfare

Merchan delayed the sentencing of Trump back in July to September 18th.  I am assuming he did so to get maximum effect when he sentences Trump for heinous felony of calling a payment to a lawyer a legal expense.

Jason Goldman, a criminal defense attorney in New York City explained: “No other human convicted of this specific crime has ever served a day,” he added.

Golman also said “At absolute most, a prison sentence for Trump would look like anywhere from one to three years. While it’s also unlikely to happen, a sentence beyond one year would mean he serves his time at an upstate prison. A sentence of a year or less would be served at Rikers,”

Knowing that Merchan is a crooked bastard and will undoubtedly sentence Trump to a minimum of 6 months to begin immediately following sentencing - what happens to the presidential race?  Merchan did not go through all this just let Trump off with a normal sentence like conditional discharge where “He could be required to pay a fine by such and such a date, and once he meets that condition, his case is done,” explained Martin Horn, professor emeritus at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.  Such would be the normal situation for a 77-year-old, first-time offender (and former president at that) on the lowest level non-violent felony, with no history of violence, drugs, or alcohol abuse,” said Aida Leisenring, a criminal defense attorney at Barket Epstein.

So knowing Merchan will go for broke how does this play out for Trump - how does it play out for democrats who concocted the current state of lawfare through appointed judges?
