A Federal judge has ruled that Trump committed a breach of copyright for using a 40 second clip of Eddy Grant’s ‘Electric Avenue’ in a Twitter post in 2020, as part of his campaign. He now has to pay damages and Eddy Grant’s costs.
This follows an order for Trump to stop using part of Isaac Hayes’ ‘Hold on, I’m Coming’ for his current campaign.
ABBA, the Foo Fighters, Celine Dion and Johnny Marr have also told Trump to cease and desist from using their music for his political campaigns. He needs to realise that the fact he is very rich (from other peoples’ money) doesn’t entitle him to use music without permission and payment.
