The Land Forces • Expand the British Army?

So the rumblings out of certain quarters of the British Army is clearly an attempt to garner public support for expanded numbers of.....everything.

Quite rightly some are setting such calls in the context of our strategic needs and asking questions of infrastructure, support, supply etc....
Do we have redundancy, capacity, domestic supply etc...

The mainstream media is obviously making waves about conscription or expanding the voluntary force.

A more nuanced view concerns Civil Defence Forces, Reserves and the capacity to actually raise, train and equip such.

The problem is why?

Warnings of a harsher world, with more threats of instability is quite reasonable. But is the answer a larger British Army....?

Isn't this the Generals longing for the return of a continental army, poised to fight a land war in Europe?
Is this really in our interests?
Can we really neglect maritime security for this?

Or are we more likely to be fighting more 'little wars' around strategic locations like the Red Sea?

Isn't a land war in Europe more properly the concerns of continental States?
