The royal navies current plan is to replace the Type45 with a large very expensive Type 83 destroyer in the late

A quicker/cheaper (interim?) solution would be building the air warfare variant of the Hunter class with the mission bay substituted for an extra 64 mk41 vls.
This may also be a solution for the Canadian destroyer replacements, based on their variant of the Type 26.
