When in doubt and seeking clarification, consult the Brains Trust. From what I've read, during WW2 both the British and US used air-cooled and water-cooled Bofors with water-cooled being the preferred and most prolific variant as far as the navies were concerned, although it almost seems the armies preferred the air-cooled variant. Following the war, were the water-cooled variants still used, or were they retired in favour of air-cooling?
