I have finally managed to take the photographs of some ancient muzzle loaders which are on display in the garden of the museum at Mumbai. And I wonder if anyone can help in a broad identification of them. Some basic facts that I can infer from the photographs are :
1). The large cannon, resembles a Rodman gun to my untrained eyes,. It may have been installed on the old Bombay Fort which had been kept in a reasonable state of repair till the 1880s or it may have been installed on Middle Ground, an island in the throat of the harbour to cover its approaches. I could not estimate the size of the bore but looks approximately 9 in to 10 in.
2). The two small cannon most definitely would be ship borne and I would estimate the smaller one to be a 3 pdr and the larger one to be a 6 pdr. Looks like something from the 1770s to the 1820s.
3). All the guns are in the open and not maintained at all, which is typical babugiri.
